Natural Colours from Herbs and Dyeing Plants

From the Nineties, we cultivate dyeing plants, extract pigments and use them to colour natural textile fibres. Our flagship colour is the blue indigo, extracted from woad leaves (Isatis tinctoria). We participated in rediscovering the ancient technique of extraction , collaborating with the University of Pisa, Ancona, Camerino. Our dyer is now one of the European top experts.

Natural dyeing Workshops

The ancient art of dyeing proves the vitality of a world of beauty, elegance and craftsmanship that deserves to be known and practices. Anyone wishing to share this heritage can contact our dyer, one of the top experts in Italy and Europe, and participate in demonstrations, introductory and advanced workshops, to discover the dyeing plants secrets, their qualities and the preparation of natural fibres and fabric. It is possible to ask for offsite lessons, conferences and consulting. Workshops in our Agriturismo are activated with a minimum of 5 people, prices and details can be directly defined by contacting us.

Woad and other Dyeing Plants

Nature gives us a generous amount of colours. it is possible to obtain a vast palette of nuances, even from broom flowers, eucalyptus bark, bramble buds, hawthorn berries. Simply by boiling them in water to extract their pigments. Historically, the most used plants in Europe are Rubia, which supplies red; the Reseda and the Dyer's Chamomile, for the yellow; and the Woad (Isatis Tinctoria), for the indigo blue. La Campana focuses on the cultivation of the latter, the most suitable for the Marche region.

Our agri-food products

La Campana farm has a good (and tasty!) production of preserves. Fruit juices and jams will never be lacking on the breakfast buffet. After dinner, you will taste the VinCotto, a typical wine from Piceno. We also produce tomato preserves, fruit in syrup and fruit mustard, extra-virgin oil.
